Dating Tip | 9-15-14
Good Morning folks!
After checking in on my friend’s status earlier, I believe as a Relationship Expert it is my responsibility to break something down. Many people will often say they are single when they are not, and it is important that we are explicitly CLEAR when discussing our “status” when embarking upon dating situations!
Keep the following things in mind so that it can minimize the appearance of being deceptive.
Single:
Not currently exclusively in a emotional and/or intimate (not sexual) relationship with another person & you have NEVER BEEN MARRIED! (you can no longer refer to yourself as single if you have been divorced, widowed are currently separated, married or have ever been married)
Married:
Legally (and in some cultures spiritually) attached to another person in an exclusive relationship. (If this is your status you are NOT single & are not to engage in single people behavior/activities unless otherwise agreed upon by you and your spouse…PERIOD!)
Common Law Married (wherever legally acknowledged):
Please refer to Married
Separated:
Currently LEGALLY married however not living as a married person as described by law. (You should never refer to yourself as single or divorced. Also, you can not refer to yourself as separated if you have not gone to court & been declared “legally separated” by a judge! Knock it off, you are STILL married!)
Divorced:
Previously married & have LEGALLY dissolved your previous marriage(s). (You no longer qualify for “single” status)
Widowed:
Previously married and your spouse has passed away. (You no longer qualify for “single” status)
Any questions????
